CPR, ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS and TNCC Classes

Each month Bingham Memorial Hospital offers classes for free or discounted fees that provide fun and learning in a variety of personal improvement areas for groups of individuals. Below is a list of some of the classes currently being offered:

Heartsaver Adult CPR First Aid AED

Cost: $50   Location: Staley Classroom, Basement, 98 Poplar Street, Blackfoot, ID

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.
Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use. These courses are also designed to meet OSHA requirements. For many of our courses, students receive a course completion card that is valid for two years.

Primary Audience: This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED

Cost: $90   Location: Staley Classroom, Basement, 98 Poplar Street, Blackfoot, ID

The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 United States. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers the Four Steps of Pediatric First Aid such as finding the problem, stopping bleeding, bandaging and using an Epinephrine pen, as well as child CPR AED and infant CPR. Optional modules in adult CPR AED, child mask, infant mask and Asthma Care Training for Child Care Providers are also available.

Primary Audience: Child Care workers, teachers, foster care workers, camp couselors, youth organizations, coaches for children's sports organizations, others responsible for children including parents, grandparents, babysitters, and guardians.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Cost: $50 Location: Staley Classroom, Basement, 98 Poplar Street, Blackfoot, ID

Basic life support (BLS) is a level of medical care which is used for victims of life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can be given full medical care at a hospital. In this classroom-based course, healthcare professionals learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

Primary Audience: This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Cost: $225 Location: Harrington Classroom, Basement, 98 Poplar Street, Blackfoot, ID

In this classroom-based course, providers enhance their skills in treating adult victims of cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies, while earning their American Heart Association ACLS (AHA ACLS) for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card.

Primary Audience: ACLS is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.
The PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Cost: $120 Location: Harrington Classroom, Basement, 98 Poplar Street, Blackfoot, ID

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is an educational program in neonatal resuscitation. This program focuses on basic resuscitation skills for newly born infants. The program is intended for healthcare providers who perform resuscitation in the delivery room or newborn nursery.

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

Cost: $250 Location: Harrington Classroom, Basement, 98 Poplar Street, Blackfoot, ID

TNCC, widely recognized as the premier course for hospitals and trauma centers worldwide, empowers nurses with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and hands-on training to provide expert care for trauma patients.

ENA developed The Trauma Nursing Core Course to establish a standardized body of trauma nursing knowledge and to improve the care of all trauma patients. This seventh edition course combines interactive learning with scenario-based assessments to give nurses a comprehensive learning experience. The course includes:

A Systematic Approach of Initial Assessment: The first few minutes of trauma care are critical to achieve better patient outcomes. The A – I mnemonic and the Trauma Nursing Assessment will assist nurses in providing appropriate and early intervention.

Hands-on Training Using both an Individual and Team Approach: Three Psychomotor skill stations offer nurses the opportunity to practice the systematic approach of the initial assessment in real life situations. The skill stations covered are Trauma Nursing Process, Airway and Ventilation, and Trauma Interventions.

2 Day Intensive Course with Expert Instructors: TNCC is a 2-Day Intensive Course that is taught by expert instructors. There is a faculty ratio of approximately one faculty per four learners.

Primary Audience: Registered nurses with clinical nursing experience in an emergency or critical care setting.

Prerequisite: Six months of clinical nursing experience in an emergency care setting is recommended. Complete the required reading, pre-test and the pre-session online lectures prior to class.
