Many of you know just how hard it is to lose weight. It seems that every pound you lose finds its way right back. Frustration with weight loss is one of the biggest reason why people all over the country consistently fail to achieve their goals. Fortunately, Bingham Memorial Hospitals weight loss support group is here to help. Dr. Peggy Jo Toro runs this free program, which puts emphasis on education and structured support to help people not only loose that extra weight, but keep it off.
The goal of this weight loss support group is to assist members of the community who have an interest or desire to loose or manage their weight to become healthier, happier individuals through education and structured support. The program aims to provide individuals with education about proper nutrition, eating habits and physical exercise for any body type or physical level.
Individuals who attend the support group can expect to participate in and receive education toward:
-
Taking ownership and control of eating patterns and personal behaviors. Weight loss requires more than watching what you eat. It requires you to watch how you eat. Simple changes in eating patterns and understanding why you do what you do can make a significant difference in how successful you are with your weight loss goals.
-
Separating myths from facts about weight loss and weight management. Sometimes your best friends advice can do more harm than good when trying to loose weight. This program will teach you the best way for you to shed those pounds, from professionals who understand how your body works.
-
Frequent guest speakers addressing food, eating habits, health, and emotional concerns. Experts from around the region will share their experiences with you and provide additional information that you may be able to incorporate into your personal weight loss program.
-
Brainstorming about "things that work" for themselves or others. Being able to discuss your plan with others who are having their own successes every day.
We invite and encourage anyone interested in joining the free Weight Loss Support Group, to attend a meeting, make friends and become a support to others who have similar health concerns. For more information, please contact Dr. Toros office at 782-3990.
