Dr. Ricky Gardner offers both Family Medicine and Obstetric healthcare. He attended Utah State University where he graduated with a degree in Chemistry with an emphasis in life sciences before attending medical school at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, OH. Dr. Gardner furthered his medical education by completing his family medicine residency as well as a fellowship in Obstetrics at the Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency of South Bend.
Dr. Gardner’s interest in medicine started as a young boy and grew into a desire to become a family physician. During his medical school training, Dr. Gardner discovered that he loved helping all patients, regardless of age or healthcare needs. This lead to his decision to become a Family Medicine provider. “It’s nice to treat the whole family,” says Dr. Gardner.
As a family physician, Dr. Gardner feels it is his role to be a partner with the patients as they work together to find the best solutions to their healthcare concerns. “I treat each patient as a whole as I work to provide them with the healthcare they both need and want.” Dr. Gardner also expresses that educating patients about their health plays a big role in preventing further healthcare concerns.
When asked why he joined the Bingham Memorial team, Dr. Gardner said, “I was impressed by the caliber of people; everyone was very friendly and the facility is phenomenal.” Dr. Gardner feels the atmosphere of Bingham Memorial Hospital empowers him to practice the high quality of healthcare he desires. “I also like the emphasis the hospital has on the community and being involved in the community,” said Dr. Gardner after sharing that he and his family are excited to make Blackfoot their home.
Dr. Gardner and his family love being outdoors together, biking, jogging, and camping. Along with being a family physician, husband and father, Dr. Gardner is also a triathlete and downhill skier.
