Bingham Memorial Hospital is pleased to introduce Jessica Horst, a certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) who specializes in diabetes and thyroid care.
Jessica has over 15 years of diverse medical experience and started her professional career as a Medical Technician in the United States Air Force, where she served four years. She was selected to start as an Emergency Room Technician and then handpicked to manage the Immunization and Allergy Clinic at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho.
Jessica earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Idaho State University. After a working as a registered nurse (RN) in Same Day Surgery and Case Management, she later returned to school to become a certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) and was mentored by Dr. Sherwin D’Souza, MD, FACE—specializing in treatment of diabetes, thyroid, and osteoporosis.
Jessica offers caring and comprehensive medical management to patients with diabetes, mellitus, thyroid disorders, and osteoporosis. She strongly believes in a team-approach treatment plan and works with patients and their family members in the areas of proper nutrition, physical activity, weight management, and stress reduction.
Jessica has strong clinical skills and is an excellent listener. She builds lasting relationships with her patients and their family members. As a life-long learner, she places an emphasis on the importance of patient education in preventative healthcare. “Diabetes care isn’t just about your health now, but also looking to the future,” says Jessica. “The changes you make today can improve your quality of life later.”
In her spare time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband and their two boys. Together, they are passionate about boating, playing soccer, snowmobiling, and skiing.
