Jonathan Godfrey, M.D.
Born and raised in Pocatello, Dr. Godfrey attended medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. His residency was served at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and his gastroenterology fellowship was completed at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Dr. Godfrey chose Gastroenterology for the diversity of patients. “You deal with a wide range of illnesses and work with people of all ages,” he says. “From the liver to the pancreas, to the stomach to the colon, it is all so interesting.”
Dr. Godfrey’s patients say that he is a good listener and is active in helping them with whatever problem they are experiencing. They also acknowledge that Dr. Godfrey has their best interest in mind as treatment plans are discussed.
Serving his residency at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Godfrey says, “The Mayo’s motto is ‘the needs of the patients come first.’ I live by that. It’s engrained in me. It’s not about me, it’s about the patient.”
Dr. Godfrey is married and has three children. He looks forward to spending more time outdoors running, golfing, and coaching his son’s baseball team.
