He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in Lebanon, Oregon. He participated in a transitional year internship at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, California. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, CA, which covered all of San Bernardino County and accorded him exceptional surgical and medical experience.

When Dr. Emfield is not practicing medicine, he loves spending time with his wife and their four daughters, and their Shar Pei. He enjoys skiing, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, rock climbing, and mountain biking. He also likes playing guitar and is a reef tank hobbyist cultivating corals and saltwater fish.
