James L. Cook, PA-C

Specialty: Neurosurgery

We are pleased to introduce James L. Cook, certified physician assistant (PA-C). He has more than 14 years of experience in neurosurgery treating all manner of neck, back, and spine conditions.

James was born and raised in Idaho, growing up in the close-knit community of Carey. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. He also completed his physician assistant studies at Idaho State University, graduating in 2003.

“Working as a physician assistant is extremely rewarding,” says James. “I have the opportunity to help patients through their entire spectrum of care. I see new patients in the office in conjunction with the surgeon. I try to maximize conservative treatments. However, if surgery becomes necessary, I am the first assistant in the operating room. I also assist in caring for patients while they are in the hospital and sees patients in the office after their surgery for follow-up care. I think it is important as well as very beneficial for patients to have someone involved with them from start-to-finish and be able to provide continuity of care.”

When he is not practicing medicine, James loves to spend time in the outdoors with his wife and four children. Some of their favorite activities include camping, backpacking, hiking, climbing, and fly-fishing. They also love to ski in the winter.
